چکیده

Entomopathogenic nematodes are soil-dwelling biocontrol agents. EPNs need an insect host to complete their life cycle, and they kill during its development. The major disadvantage of is the high cost commercial products. Thus, there many studies focused on reducing production costs by optimization mass production. In a previous project, Heterorhabditis bacteriophora Poinar, 1976 (Rhabditida: Heterorhabditidae) HBH hybrid strain was developed from local isolates. This patented due superior bioecological characteristics. study aimed optimize in vitro solid strain. All laboratory trials were performed between 2017 2018, Nematology Laboratory Bursa Uludağ University, Faculty Agriculture, Department Plant Protection. For optimization, additional supplementary ingredients (soy lecithin egg yolk), temperature (24, 28 32°C) medium pH (5, 7 9) selected as parameters. Optimization evaluated based hermaphrodite numbers, total infective juveniles (IJs), IJ body length virulence. Based results, best combination found agar containing soy lecithin, 28°C 7. Also, media with 9 markedly reduced yield. Consequently, optimum values for some important parameters determined.

Morphometrics and Molecular Characterization of New Isolate of Entomopathogenic Nematode, Heterorhabditis Bacteriophora Poinar, 1976 (nematoda, Rhabditida) from the North of Iran

For the first time during the survey of entomopathogenic nematodes in north of Iran, a geographical isolates of Heterorhabditis recovered from soil using Galleria baiting technique. Based on morphological and molecular characterization this isolates was identified as Heterorhabditis bacteriophora NIR1. Morphometric and morphological comparisons of the new isolate with type species and other des...

Heterorhabditis amazonensis n. sp. (Rhabditida: Heterorhabditidae) from Amazonas, Brazil

In a survey of entomopathogenic nematodes in Brazil, a nematode isolate of the genus Heterorhabditis was found. The nematode was collected from soil by the insect-baiting technique and maintained in the laboratory on last instar Galleria mellonella (L.) larvae. Morphological and molecular studies of the isolate showed that the nematode is a new species. Light and scanning electron microscopy, D...

Vertical Migration of Heterorhabditis bacteriophora and H. heliothidis (Nematoda: Heterorhabditidae) in Sandy Loam Soil.

The entomogenous nematodes Heterorhabditis bacteriophora Poinar and H. heliothidis (Khan, Brooks, and Hirschmann) and their associated bacterium Xenorhabdus luminescens (Poinar and Thomas) have been tested against a humher of insect pests with some encouraging results (11). Simons (14) obtained 90% control of tile black vine weevil, Otiorhynchus sulcatus Fab., after applying Heterorhabditis sp....

Effects of pink bollworm resistance to Bacillus thuringiensis on phenoloxidase activity and susceptibility to entomopathogenic nematodes.

Widespread planting of crops genetically engineered to produce insecticidal toxins from the bacterium Bacillus thuringiensis (Bt) imposes selection on many key agricultural pests to evolve resistance to Bt. Fitness costs can slow the evolution of Bt resistance. We examined effects of entomopathogenic nematodes on fitness costs of Bt resistance in the pink bollworm, Pectinophora gossypiella (Sau...
